Dawn After Night, Spring After Winter
Hutchinson’s Bank Trail
Post Four
As you come to each post, stop for a moment to read each prompt and build your story as you walk. You can also play this at home on an imaginary adventure.
Listen to an audio recording of each post below.
4: The forked path
Finally, you come to a gate, heading down. If it’s locked, instead go straight on to marker 12 (turn right at 12, and down the steps to marker 7). If the gate is unlocked, go through into the grazing field, and down the steep bank.
But first, look out over the land. Take a breath. See how many types of tree you can see. Do you see little mounds in the grasslands? These too are other worlds, homes of yellow meadow ants, earthworks as significant to them as highrises. Now let’s build our story.
Who does your character meet on the way?
A talking frog
A shy deer
A mysterious person
A friendly child
A whispering voice
Invent something else
Imagine a conversation with this other being. Are they helpful or strange? Do they aid you on your quest, or send you on the wrong path?
