Perfect Wife

£20.00

Head indoors if dogs are whining.

Walk on by if your name is called.

Do not search for the baby crying.

An urban horror TTRPG adventure zine inspired by Asian ghost films

A tabletop RPG adventure about the pontianak, a female spirit from Malaysian / Indonesian belief—her beginning in traumatic childbirth; her habits terrorising misogynist douchebags; her capture and servitude.

A 44-page zine with art by Amanda Lee Franck (Vampire Cruise, Crush Depth Apparition) and Scrap World (Fire On The Velvet Horizon, Noofutura) and writing by Zedeck Siew (Lorn Song Of The Bachelor, Reach Of The Roach God). Published by Copy/Paste Co-op

Impressionistic colour art designed to slip into your dreams; jargon-free text designed to grip your imagination. System-agnostic, designed to be playable with your preferred system for running contemporary urban horror.

Set in a decaying city, riven by class and ethnic division, steeped in patriarchy and filtered though the refugee experience—can you find the pontianak, and stop her from killing? Will you set her free?

Created for Weird Hope Engines, an experimental contemporary art exhibition exploring tabletop RPGs. It highlighted creators in independent game design and brought their work into dialogue with fellow-travellers from critical art practice.

Curated by Dying Earth Catalogue (David Blandy, Rebecca Edwards, Jamie Sutcliffe), at Bonington Gallery, Nottingham, UK.
